World Cup Winner Slams Chelsea as ‘Disgrace’, Predicts They Will Never Win Premier League

  • The commencement of the new 2024/25 English Premier League football season is on the horizon
  • Several elite clubs, including Chelsea, are among the contenders to win the EPL at the end of the campaign
  • A World Cup winner has branded the west London outfit a disgrace, stressing that they cannot win the league

Given Chelsea’s recent form, it’s hard to believe that the west London club won the Premier League title just seven years ago.

The six-time EPL champions have struggled to keep pace with their rivals in recent seasons, particularly following the Todd Boehly takeover.

Despite investing over £1 billion in transfers, Chelsea has only managed to finish 12th and 6th in the Premier League, a significant drop from their previous standards.

With the new season approaching and fans hopeful for a turnaround under new manager, Enzo Maresca, a FIFA World Cup winner has criticised the club as a ‘disgrace’ and claimed they will ‘never win the Premier League’ again.

World Cup winner labels Chelsea a disgrace

In a recent interview reported by Metro Sport, 1998 FIFA World Cup winner, Frank Leboeuf, has sharply criticised Chelsea’s current situation.

The former Chelsea defender expressed his dissatisfaction with the club’s recent management and spending.

“Some fans believe Chelsea can start fresh next season, but it’s not truly a fresh start after spending a billion pounds,” Leboeuf remarked.
“The club can spend its money however it likes, but as a former player, it’s disheartening to see the current state of affairs,” he added. “While there is talent in the squad, the team lacks leaders and dependable players, which is a significant challenge for Enzo Maresca.”

Leboeuf is sceptical about Chelsea’s prospects, saying,

“It’s possible they might win a cup, like the FA Cup this season, but I don’t see them winning the Premier League anytime soon. If they continue on their current path, a Premier League title seems out of reach. They need more experience to succeed.”
