Legendary Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy has reacted after leading the Harambee Stars of Kenya to victory over Morocco at the ongoing CHAN 2024 in East Africa.

The Harambee Stars played the entire match with ten men after Chrispine Erambo was sent off in first-half added time for a dangerous tackle on Anass El Mahraoui.

McCarthy continues to prove himself since being appointed as the head coach of the Harambee Stars, especially at the ongoing African Nations Championship.

Kenya is currently on top of Group A with seven points from three games, followed by Angola with four points, while Morocco is fourth with three points, the same as the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Harambee Stars will face Group A bottom side Zambia in their last group game on Sunday, August 17, 2025, a match that will determine their fate and qualification for the quarter-finals.

Springboks star reacts to McCarthy's comments after Kenya's win

Benni McCarthy took to his official Instagram page to comment on the Harambee Stars' famous victory over the Atlas Lions of Morocco in front of their fans at the Moi International Sports Centre.

The South African tactician acknowledged the Kenyans who came out to support the team and dedicated the three points won to them.

"Important win against Morocco with 10 men. So proud of my team and their fighting spirit. A massive thank you to every single fan who came to support us; the 3 points are for you🖤❤️💚," he captioned the pictures he posted on Instagram.

Springboks star Makazole Mapimpi joined the conversation by taking to the comment section to share love and applause emojis "❤️👏" as he reacted to the former Orlando Pirates striker's post.

Mapimpi was not the only one who commented on McCarthy's post after the win; the former Cape Town City manager's wife, Stacey McCarthy, also celebrated the victory with her husband.

"So proud of you and your team," the Bafana Bafana legend's wife said in the comment section of his post on Instagram.

McCarthy makes honest admission about Kenya's WC hopes

Briefly News also reported that McCarthy made an honest admission about Kenya's chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup which would be hosted by the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

The former Bafana Bafana star cited the points gap and early setbacks in the qualifying series as some of the issues.
