Bafana Bafana Midfielder Leaves Mamelodi Sundowns for Another PSL Side

  • Mamelodi Sundowns have lost another talented Bafana Bafana star to a Premier Soccer League side this summer
  • The Brazilians loaned out Terrence Mashego to Durban City earlier, and they've decided to let go of another South African international
  • Sundowns' decision was criticised by some of their fans on social media, as they expected the South African midfielder to stay at the club

Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria has confirmed that they've secured the signing of a Bafana Bafana midfielder Ntando Nkosi from Mamelodi Sundowns this summer.

The Brazilians have not been very active in the transfer market this summer, but they’ve still brought in some world-class players, with Fawaaz Basadien joining from Stellenbosch FC, and a former Kaizer Chiefs star was also added to the squad.

They lost Sipho Mbule this summer after deciding not to renew his contract; the Bafana Bafana midfielder joined their league rivals, Orlando Pirates, on a free transfer.

Sundowns star Nkosi joins AmaTuks

AmaTuks coach Tlisane Kopo confirmed that new signing Ntando Nkosi will be available for selection next week after completing a permanent move to the club. He revealed that the deal was sealed following tough negotiations, but the player has now been registered and is ready to contribute.

The Tshwane side, who were held to a 0-0 stalemate by Lions, their fourth draw in as many matches this season, will now shift focus to an away clash against Kruger United in Mpumalanga.

Reflecting on the Lions' match, Kopo admitted his wingers have yet to make the desired impact in attack, noting that the first half again lacked direction and shots on goal. While he felt his team controlled possession and looked comfortable, he pointed out that anxiety about chasing a first win was evident. He added that playing too directly in the second half suited their opponents, as it’s the style most teams in the league adopt.
