Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz has admitted he is frustrated by the timing of Saturday’s clash against Mamelodi Sundowns. Amakhosi head into the blockbuster encounter just three days after beating Sekhukhune United 2-0.
The tight turnaround is particularly concerning for Da Cruz because Chiefs are set to play three matches in six days.

Speaking through a translator, the Chiefs coach pointed to the difference in recovery time between his side and other PSL teams.

“I’m a little disappointed because on the one hand it happens so early, and on the other hand it happens at a time when we’re going to play three games in six days,” Da Cruz said according to Soccer Laduma.
He noted that other teams are playing three matches across seven days, giving them an additional day to recover. For Chiefs, there will be no such luxury before facing Sundowns.
Da Cruz was particularly mindful of the quality of the opposition, with the Brazilians entering the contest as reigning African champions.
Still, he refused to turn the scheduling issue into an excuse.
“We have to play it, and we’re going to play it,” he said.

Kaizer Chiefs face major early test
Da Cruz believes the difficulty of the fixture could ultimately benefit his team. He described Sundowns as “the best team in Africa” after their Champions League triumph and wants Chiefs to match that standard.
The coach sees the encounter as an opportunity to discover how his squad performs against elite opposition.
“This game will give us very good information about what the team is able to do,” Da Cruz said.
Chiefs will therefore have to put the frustration over the schedule aside when they take on Sundowns on Saturday.
