SAFA has confirmed that Orlando Stadium will host Pitso Mosimane’s first Bafana Bafana match when South Africa face Guinea in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Saturday, 26 September 2026.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) made the announcement on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, confirming the Johannesburg venue for Mosimane’s first competitive match since taking charge of the national team.
SAFA president Danny Jordaan urged supporters to attend the fixture.
“We encourage families and fans to come in their numbers to support the team as we begin this new era under coach Pitso Mosimane,” Jordaan said.

Bafana face busy September and October schedule
South Africa will then travel to Cairo for their second AFCON qualifier against Eritrea on Wednesday, 30 September 2026 at Al-Salam Stadium.
Bafana will remain in Egypt for a friendly against the hosts on Sunday, 4 October 2026, at Cairo International Stadium.
Mosimane announced his preliminary squad for the AFCON qualifiers before SAFA’s 8 September announcement. The final squad is expected to follow in the coming days.

Tickets already on sale for Guinea clash
Tickets for the 26 September 2026 clash have gone on sale, with adults paying R100 and children under 12 charged R40. Supporters planning to attend with younger children should note that they cannot purchase child tickets on their own. You must select at least one adult ticket first.

The Guinea fixture will be played at Orlando Stadium and will mark Mosimane’s first match in charge since returning to the Bafana Bafana head coach role.
