Relebohile Mofokeng Told What to Do Amid Interest From Chelsea, La Liga and Serie a Giants

  • Relebohile Mofokeng attracted interest from four major European clubs just three months into his move to Belgium
  • The 21-year-old has scored four goals and provided one assist across nine appearances for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise
  • A football analyst spoke exclusively to Briefly News about which clubs Mofokeng should consider if offers materialise

Relebohile Mofokeng's rapid rise at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise has placed the Bafana Bafana forward firmly on the radar of some of Europe's biggest clubs, with transfer specialist Ekrem Konur reporting that Chelsea, Brighton & Hove Albion, Atletico Madrid, and Napoli are all tracking the 21-year-old attacker.

The interest has materialised in a remarkably short space of time. Mofokeng only completed his move from Orlando Pirates to the Belgian club on 2 July, signing a four-year deal with an option for a fifth season for a reported domestic-record fee of R65.3 million (€3.5 million).

His debut in competitive football for Union SG could hardly have been more dramatic. Coming off the bench in the Belgian Super Cup final against Club Brugge on 31 July, Mofokeng converted the decisive penalty in the shootout to hand his side the trophy. He then carried that form into league action, netting on his domestic debut against K.V.C. Westerlo on 8 August. Across nine appearances in all competitions, he has now accumulated four goals and one assist under manager David Hubert.

**Analyst Urges Mofokeng to Choose Carefully**

Football analyst Uche Anuma, speaking exclusively to Briefly News, offered measured guidance to the young forward amid the swirling transfer speculation.

"Relebohile Mofokeng deserved the recognition he's been getting, because he has put in the work which is showing in his performance in Europe," Anuma said.

He added that Mofokeng's composure in a new environment had silenced early sceptics: "While some of us were not fully convinced when he move to Europe, he's proved that he's destined to play there, without letting change of environment and pressure get to him."

Anuma noted that the nature of the reported interest was not surprising. "The recent reports linking him to top clubs is normal because the four clubs mentioned are always on the look out for young players having a good season in Europe."

However, the analyst urged patience, suggesting Mofokeng would benefit most from staying at Union SG for two full seasons before making a bigger move. Of the four clubs linked, Anuma singled out two as the most suitable destinations. "Out of the four clubs interested in him, I feel Napoli and Brighton are the best options for him, so he can get enough playing time, in my opinion."
