Former Springbok prop Steven Kitshoff has backed Siya Kolisi's return to the starting line-up to give South Africa the composure and leadership required to bounce back against the All Blacks at DHL Newlands on Saturday.
Kolisi reclaims the No 6 jersey for the second fixture of Rugby's Greatest Rivalry series, with the Springboks trailing after a 33-16 defeat at Ellis Park last weekend. Paul de Villiers, who had performed admirably in that role over recent matches, makes way as head coach Rassie Erasmus turns to experience with the series on the line.
Kitshoff on Kolisi's Unseen Contributions
Speaking at a breakfast event on Thursday, Kitshoff told reporters that the public often overlooks the full extent of what Kolisi brings to the Springbok set-up.

"The big thing people don't realise about Siya is the things that aren't seen," Kitshoff said, as quoted by Netwerk24.
"Siya is a good leader and team man, and cares deeply about the Springboks. What people don't see is his work rate — his contribution at the breakdowns to make sure that Grant Williams or Cobus Reinach get quick ball."
Kitshoff added that it is precisely this off-camera diligence that has sustained Kolisi's career at the highest level. "He does exceptional work when the camera isn't on him and that's what makes him such a great leader."
**Experience to Count in Must-Win Fixture**
With the Springboks having failed to capitalise on their chances in Johannesburg, Kitshoff believes Kolisi's 100-plus Test caps will carry significant weight in a high-pressure environment.
"He understands the game and has more than 100 Tests' experience," Kitshoff said. "Paul was excellent for the Boks in the last few games and is incredibly good at the breakdowns, but Siya's leadership, experience and the calmness he brings will be huge for the Boks. When things go badly, he can keep the guys together."
Saturday's match at DHL Newlands in Cape Town represents a must-win occasion for the Springboks as they look to keep the series alive against New Zealand.
