Miami Plane Crash: 5 Killed After Amazon Cargo Plane Overruns Runway

MIAMI — Five people were killed and several others injured after an Amazon cargo plane overran a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon, authorities confirmed.

According to the BCC, Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said the aircraft overran runway 30 at approximately 2 p.m. The Federal Aviation Administration identified the plane as a Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft that had been operating a flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Several victims were trapped inside vehicles struck by the aircraft and had to be extricated by emergency services, according to officials. It remains unclear whether those who died were passengers aboard the plane or individuals on the ground.

The cause of the runway overrun has not yet been officially determined. Investigations into the crash are expected to be conducted by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Skydriving plane crashes in Missouri

In similar news, a skydiving aircraft carrying a pilot and 11 passengers crashed shortly after take-off from Butler Memorial Airport in Missouri, killing everyone on boar. Investigators examined whether mechanical problems contributed to the crash after witnesses reported the aircraft appeared to lose power. The fatal accident happened just over a year after another skydiving aircraft crashed near the same airport, although everyone involved in the 2024 incident survived.

Two US pilot dies in plane crash

Previously, Briefly News reported that a pilot and co-pilot from the United States died after their aircraft crashed while attempting an emergency landing near La Romana in the Dominican Republic. Authorities said the plane had stopped in the Dominican Republic to refuel before heading to Texas and reported an emergency shortly after takeoff. Former MLB star Yadier Molina revealed the aircraft was scheduled to pick him up in Texas before continuing a trip with family and friends to Puerto Rico.
