DJ Zinhle: From Humble Musician to Respected Business Mogul
DJ Zinhle is the true definition of success moving in silence. The humble DJ has been quietly amassing her wealth as she embarks on her mission to be a prolific businesswoman in the country. Briefly News takes a look at Zinhle’s journey from the bottom to the CEO’s seat.

1. Early life
Ntombezinhle Jiyane was born on 30 December 1982 in Dannhauser, KwaZulu-Natal. After leaving Dannhauser, she went to live in Newcastle and studied at Siyamukela High School in Emadadeni, Newcastle.
2. Music career
DJ Zinhle started her career around 2004. The musician got her first break as a resident DJ on a youth dance show called Jika Majika, which aired on SABC 1. he worked with South African music icon Boom Shaka on the album I Put It In, which featured other notable artists like Dr Malinga, Khanyi Mbau, Mphoza and many more. Zinhle headlined the Zimfest 2019 live concert held in Zimbabwe.
Her most successful track thus far has been 2019 hit single, Umlilo which gained 5.1 million streams in just three months and was certified 3x platinum by the Recording industry of South Africa.
3. Personal life
DJ Zinhle was in an on-and-off relationship with South African rapper AKA until their split in January 2020. The pair have a child named Kairo Owethu Forbes.
Zinhle is now currently dating Murdah Bongz from Black Motion. The couple kept their romance lowkey for a few months but are now out in the open with it.
4. DJ Zinhle’s business interests
In 2020, Zinhle decided to make a bold move by introducing eyewear products under her brand ERA by DJ Zinhle. She then took it a step further by opening a physical store at Southgate Mall in Johannesburg. The musician had the grand opening for the store back in November 2020.
DJ Zinhle was made the CEO of luxury bubbly brand Boulevard Rosé. The award-winning DJ took her career to the next level when this happened. When the news broke, Mzansi was elated for her. She took to Instagram to express how she was feeling:
"I actually don’t know what to say, we’ve been working on this for over a year now and at the beginning, I didn’t believe it. At every meeting I’d feel like this required more from me, it’s huge, I needed to operate at a level I didn’t even know I could reach."
Zinhle also took advantage of how popular the AirBnB app was getting amongst South Africans. She listed her luxury Johannesburg apartment on the app and is reaping the benefits. The flat is situated in Bryanston and is absolutely stylish. It features everything that a person could want when needing to relax.
In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic caused panic all over Mzansi but Zinhle decided to capitalise and launch a face mask range with her daughter Kairo. At the time of the launch, President Cyril Ramaphosa had urged South Africans to wear face masks when going out in public. Zinhle and Kairo hopped on the bandwagon decided to start producing face masks.
Briefly News also previously reported that the musician and entrepreneur has launched her own hair and wig company and Mzansi was completely blown away. Many applauded for always finding new ways to secure the bag.
Somizi shows love to DJ Zinhle’s hustle
Meanwhile, Briefly News previously reported that Somizi has made it clear that he fully supports DJ Zinhle and her new hair venture. The Idols SA judge was one of the first people to congratulate Zee after she announced the launch of the business.
Taking to his social media account, Somizi posted a picture of Zinhle looking like a boss babe and captioned it:
“Proud of you, babe. Your new business venture is going to be a huge success.”
He urged his followers to support local brands and to buy from her. Somizi has always been an advocate of supporting local business.
