Beyoncé and Jay Z Give Out R28 Million in Scholarships to Black Colleges and Universities

Beyoncé and her hubby Jay-Z have decided to put their money into good use. The wealthy musicians are on a mission to make sure that African American kids in the US have the money they need to pay for their studies when they reach university or college level.

The Carters have injected $2 million (R28 million) into historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the US. The world-renowned artists partnered with Tiffany & Co to come up with the cool initiative specifically for the HBCUs.

Complex reports that Hov's Shawn Carter Foundation, Beyonce's BeyGOOD organisation and Tiffany & Co officially launched the Love Scholarship programme on Thursday, 9 September.

Beyoncé accused of wearing R464m blood diamond

Briefly News also reported that Beyoncé made waves when she wore an enormous 128-carat Tiffany diamond. Some accused her of wearing a blood diamond. The diamond was mined in South Africa in 1877. Briefly News reported that she was the first black person to wear the diamond.

However, not everyone was impressed with her flashy jewellery and Ghanaian-American commentator Karen Attiah wrote a column in the Washington Post about it.
