Mzansi musician Sjava surprised his fans by dropping a four-track EP at midnight on Friday, 4 December. The KZN artist dropped the project just days after celebrating his 36th birthday. The EP, titled Umsebenzi, has been well-received by fans who were dying for new material from him.
The title Umsebenzi has a double meaning, it can be directly translated to mean work or it can refer to a Zulu ritual of slaughtering an animal for the ancestors.
Taking to social media, Sjava announced the album at midnight by saying:
"Nawu Umsebenzi, I hope you enjoy it."
The reaction to the EP has been positive. Twitter user lenard_mazibe said:
"#UmsebenziEP when Sjava drops. Just know it's classic, this man DON'T miss bro. All his projects will be played in 100 years to come."
