Coming out to the world as gay is not an easy task but a number of Mzansi celebrities took a brave step and decided to love out loud. Briefly.co.za takes a look at four South African celebrities who came out as gay this year.
Disclosing your sexual orientation to the world is a process of understanding and self-acceptance. A few Mzansi celebrities took the plunge this year and decided to live their truth. Briefly.co.za compiled a list of four celebrities who came out in 2020.
1. Moonchild Sanelly
Moonchild Sanelly recently decided to show off her lover. The Gqom artist shared that she was off the market and shared pictures with her girlfriend on social media. Twitter user @phatstoki shared four pictures of herself looking cosy with the Bashiri hitmaker.
Social media users were definitely surprised but wished the couple well and sent sweet messages their way.
2. Letoya Makhene
The actress and singer decided to show off her new boo Lebo Keswa to the world and some people were shocked, to say the least. Pictures of Letoya and Lebo looking snug with each other leaked on social media and from there, Letoya decided to stop hiding the fact that she was with a woman.
She recently married Lebo in a beautiful traditional wedding ceremony, showing that true love conquers all.
3. Aaron Moloisi
The Moja Love presenter and actor left Mzansi shook when he shared a picture of himself with Inno Matijane looking loved up. He captioned the picture "finally" and raised questions about his sexuality. The pair met at the Moja Love studios and solidified their relationship by sharing similar pictures on their social media accounts.
A number of fans were happy that the two found love within each other.
4. Simphiwe Dana
The songstress was tired of hiding her truth and revealed that she was gay on her Twitter page. In a series of tweets, Simphiwe revealed that she was in love with a woman and that they were set to get married soon.
The woman that Simphiwe is in love with is Pumeza Matshikiza, who is an opera singer.
Briefly.co.za previously reported that Somizi's husband, Mohale shared his experiences of being both gay and Christian. Mohale Tebogo Motaung has voiced his opinion on the controversial topic of homosexuality and Christianity.
He believes that a dialogue needs to be opened urgently on the topic. He spoke with gospel star NJ Kunene about faith and sexuality in his Instagram live series, Let's Talk with Mohale.
Briefly.co.za learned that NJ said that it was not necessary to hide your sexuality as a church leader as it would have a negative effect on his faith.
