Carnage at Vaal Petrol Station After Man Goes on Shooting Spree

- An unnamed gunman shot several people in Vanderbijlpark at a fast food outlet on the night of Tuesday, 2 February

A shooting reportedly took place last night on Tuesday, 2 February in the south of Johannesburg.

Preliminary information suggests that a gunman shot and wounded several people at a fast food outlet in Vanderbijlpark before travelling to a petrol station to shoot more victims and then turn the weapon on himself.

Multiple victims have been reported, including one 18-year-old who died from his wounds while in hospital.

According to a report by TimesLive, the Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele confirmed that the incident happened at a petrol station in Sharpeville at around 7pm and that the man had shot several people in Vanderbijlpark before committing suicide.

Makhubele said it was still unclear how many people were shot but said all wounded victims had been taken to hospital.

Further information has also been reported to confirm that at least two of the victims have died from their gunshot wounds, one of whom was an 18-year-old.

The police are reportedly still working through the process of positively identifying the gunman.

This news comes only days after Briefly.co.za reported on an incident that occurred in Khayelitsha where six men were shot to death.

The police have launched a manhunt after six men were gunned down in Khayelitsha. The attack took place on Saturday night when seven men were attacked in a shack in Khayelitsha.

Five of the victims died at the scene and the sixth died of his wounds in hospital. The victims were aged between 29 and 36.

Police have asked anyone with information relating to the incident to contact them on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS App. All reports from the public will remain in strict confidence.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that a would-be victim of a hijacking quickly defended himself against a gang of five hijackers who wanted to take his grey Porsche Cayenne by shooting one of them dead.

According to reports, the assailants and the victim were driving in a red double cab Toyota bakkie and a white Audi on Old Johannesburg Road near the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria when the incident occurred.

According to the victim, the hijackers had tried to block his expensive car with their bakkie. They then jumped out of their vehicle and approached the driver. In an attempt to spare both his life and his car, the victim allegedly shot one of the suspects causing the rest to flee.
