Focalistic has opened up about the hate he endured after he was named the hottest MC in Mzansi last year.
The Ke Star hitmaker's epic hip-hop and Amapiano songs were all over radio and TV in 2020. He was also one of the most streamed musicians on platforms such as YouTube and iTunes.
Not many peeps were happy with the award-winning star's success and many took to social media to criticise the MTV Base Hottest MC panellists for crowning him as the hottest rapper in Mzansi.
While some were happy about the way he was popping during the hard lockdown in the country, some shared that he was not a true MC but more of an Amapiano artist.
Focalistic told TshisaLIVE recently that he "retired" from making hip-hop shortly after he was named the hottest MC "because there's too much politics".
Focalistic explained that he doesn't want to be boxed and shared that his vision was bigger than just one music genre.
Pitori Maradona said he was glad that he has been able to make people from the hip-hop background, including international superstars such as Diddy and Alicia Keys, dance to the Yanos.
In related news, Briefly.co.za reported that Focalistic has been receiving tons of love and appreciation for his music these days. The latest celebrity to show love to the Mzansi musician’s talent is US singer Alicia Keys.
Keys took to social media to post a video and had Ke Star by Focalistic playing in the background. The South African artist saw the video and took to social media to share his excitement. He tweeted:
“It’s crazy!! This is @aliciakeys & @THEREALSWIZZZ playing Ke Star on a random day!!! ASE TRAP TSE KE PINA TSA KO KASI WORLD WIDE. It’s really possible.”
Mzansi social media users were excited for the star and congratulated him. Twitter user planet_dodger said:
"Bro that Davido feature was a stroke of genius and amplified the reach of Yanos. Boss moves and talent equals global domination."
