South African singer Tyla has a special treat for her fans around the world. Fresh from her EP drop, Tyla is already talking about new music and even an album.

However, before the big drop happens, Tyla revealed that she has something up her sleeve, and fans will be thoroughly impressed.

The Is It hitmaker was on the cover of Variety, where she spoke in detail about her album.

“I had more time to work on this album than I did the first, so I have a lot of songs,” Tyla mentioned. “It feels really current, and this time, I’m living what I’m singing; it feels way more personal. Way more like me.”

Tyla recently released her EP We Wanna Party. The four-track EP, according to Tyla, is the bridge to her upcoming sophomore album. One of the tracks, Mr. Media, was the leading track to the album, and she released it intentionally.

“I wanted something loud, aggressive, and worthy of summer. ‘Mr Media’ had to come out before the album, I needed to express those thoughts first,” she added.

Tyle continued, “‘We Wanna Party’ is the bridge. When the album drops, it’s going to be a completely different vibe than what people are expecting.”

Tyla also spoke about the pressure from her record label to release bubblegum music. She said she does not connect with this type of music. She then realised that her sound leans towards African music, so she stuck with that sound and never let it go.

“[Those songs] didn’t feel like me at all. I remember being in my hotel room, and my managers were calling me, ‘Come down, we need to cut the song.’ I was crying and thinking, ‘This is not what I want. I didn’t get signed to do this.’ They had to [coax] me out of that room. But I think that through doing that, I realised how much more I love African music. It made me more persistent in keeping my ideas.”

In a previous report from Briefly News, Tyla was the subject of controversy in an online debate about South African pop culture, after claiming the 'We Wanna Party' chant.

The singer sat down for an interview, and she went into detail about one of her go-to chants when she's on stage. Nigerians criticised Tyla as they took issue with her claim that she was using a South African saying to hype up her fans.
