Bathong! Amapiano producer and DJ Kelvin Momo has accused fellow musician Bonga Soul of stealing one of his songs. Momo rarely addresses feuds on social media, but in this instance, he took to his official Instagram account and reprimanded a fellow musician for theft.

It is uncommon for a musician to be accused of stealing a song. While lesser-known musicians often accuse established artists as a marketing gimmick, some theft accusations are legitimate and often end up in court, with the accused coughing up thousands and in some cases millions of Rands in compensation.

Kelvin Momo accuses Bonga Soul of

Kelvin Momo found himself in the middle of an unexpected copyright infringement dispute after a fellow musician, Bonga Soul, stole one of his songs. On Monday, 11 August 2025, entertainment blogger SA Hip Hop & Amapiano Paradise took to Facebook and shared that Kelvin Momo had angrily taken to his Instagram stories and called out Bongi Soul for stealing one of his songs.

“Stop stealing. Ubani manje wena,” Momo wrote.

According to the blogger, Bonga Soul allegedly lifted the song from one of the Ntsako hitmaker’s old mixes and uploaded it to digital streaming services without Momo’s consent. The song titled Midnight, which was uploaded on Spotify on 3 June 2025, allegedly has the same beat and vocals as the one produced by the musician who made history with a two-day Red Bull Symphonic performance.

As of the time of writing, Kelvin Momo had not indicated whether he would take legal action against Bonga Soul. The accused had neither denied nor admitted to stealing Momo’s song, which is still on streaming platforms.

Netizens react after Kelvin Momo accuses fellow musician of theft

In the comments section on Facebook, netizens expressed mixed reactions. While Momo’s fans rallied behind him, others suggested that the Thato Ya Modimo producer bought this upon himself by constantly teasing songs and never releasing them. Others suggested that the whole situation could be a marketing gimmick.
