Busisiwe Kunene has become the latest former actress to venture into the world of podcasting. The talented TV presenter opened up on her new podcast, which she said will set itself apart from other podcasts through the content it discusses.

While Busisiwe Kunene became a household name as Agnes on the SABC2 soapie Muvhango, which recently wrapped up after a 28-year run, she is returning to the spotlight in a different capacity. In an interview with TshisaLive, Kunene shared details of her new podcast, Precious Moments.

Former Muvhango actress Busisiwe Kunene launches podcast

She told the publication that Precious Moments will give everyday South Africans a platform to discuss issues affecting them. Busisiwe Kunene shared her experience in the entertainment industry, which started in 1996 as a presenter on Eco Act, an environmental programme.

After hosting Eco Act, Busisiwe Kunene then presented Sasko Sam. She hosted Young Tongues, a show that focused on topical issues, for example, teenage pregnancy. Kunene co-hosted the show together with Bonginkosi 'Zola 7' Dlamini on Take 5.

Busisiwe Kunene revealed that she has been unable to secure employment despite her vast experience and talent. She told TshisaLive that Precious Moments came about as a way to employ herself.

“The industry is not as accommodating as before, so I decided to employ myself,” she added.

Busisiwe Kunene shared that the podcast is self-funded, but she is actively looking for sponsors.

What is Busisiwe Kunene's new podcast about?

She emphasised that the show is unlike other podcasts as it will not discuss gossip or have celebrity guests.

“This is not a gossip or celebrity podcast. We talk to people from all walks of life; the sort of stories an ordinary South African would want to hear and engage with,” Kunene said.

Busisiwe shared the names of the three guests who have appeared on the Precious Moments podcast. One of the guests is Felicia Goosen, who was born in a prison in Thailand where her mother was doing time for alleged drug smuggling.

Her other two guests were Phinah Kodisang and Tebogo Majolane, who shared their inspirational stories.

The Precious Moments Podcast released new episodes every second month, airing on Wednesdays at 7 pm.

Dineo Ranaka shares struggles after Podcast and Chill exit

Meanwhile, Briefly News reported that renowned broadcaster Dineo Ranaka was struggling to build an audience for her podcast despite having millions tuning in to her while on the radio.
