TV personality and actress Nomalanga Shozi opens up about leading the cast of Mandla N's upcoming TV show Black Gold opposite former The Queen actress Nomsa Buthelezi.

Shozi portrays the character of Dawn Thandeka King's on-screen daughter, Amandla Zungu, in the upcoming BET_Africa telenovela.

The TV personality and actress reveals in an interview with Sunday World that Amandla isn’t just a character she plays, but a reflection of so many African women she's known.

"This role demanded every part of me, my craft, my courage, and my heart. I’m proud to stand in her shoes and tell a story that feels deeply ours. And it will resonate anywhere in the world,” says Shozi.

Social media user @LeratoRSA shared the trailer of the TV show on X on Friday, 15 August 2025.

The highly anticipated novela will premiere on BET_Africa (Channel 129) on Monday, 18 August 2025 at 18:00. The show airs Monday to Thursday.
