Former Hopeville actor Glen Gabela has opened up about his struggles to land an acting job and financial challenges in a viral video on social media.

Gabela, who asked for donations in a video shared on X and Instagram, reveals that he needs food.

The legendary actor also had social media talking this past week when Minister Gayton McKenzie commented on his video on X.

The thespian revealed in an interview with Daily Sun on Friday, 15 August 2025, that he would appreciate food donations.

"What I need more is food, and I will appreciate getting it," says the veteran actor.

A member of the uMkhonto Wesizwe Party shared with the publication that they reached out to Minister Gayton McKenzie, who promised to do something for Gabela before the end of this week.

Gabela also previously shared in an interview with Sunday World that he was hospitalised after he had a heart attack.

Social media user Vehicle Trackers shared a video on X of the actor asking for donations on Wednesday, 13 August 2025.
