However, he realised that he had a talent for acting in addition to owning an amazing voice.
"I went through depression. I was selling CDs on the streets until I decided to come back and ventured into acting," he told the news publication.
Mbuso Khoza has made a name for himself on multiple productions, including Umkhokha: The Curse, Shaka iLembe, and Masinga: The Calling. The show that opened doors for him was Umkhokha, and he was with the drama series for three seasons.

He added that depression helped train him to get rid of negative thoughts and stick to the positive. Khoza described the negative thoughts like a passing river that barely made an impact on his life.
When he left the now-cancelled Mzansi Magic show, Umkhokha, Khoza said he was inundated with calls from fans to return to the show. That was when he recognised his impact as an actor.
From his experience, Khoza said young creatives should equip themselves with other skills so that when one thing does not work out, they can always try out something else.
Mbuso Khoza calls out Duma Ndlovu
Mbuso Khoza called out South African producer and filmmaker Duma Ka Ndlovu for allegedly owing him money. The actor claimed he was owed royalties for the work he did on Umkhokha: The Curse.
"Duma Ndlovu, please take my call regarding the money you owe me on Umkhokha from 2021 until the last season. Please take my call. I composed many songs on the show. Please, awube wumuntu. Boya benyathi," he said.
"It is my account. Here I'm fighting for my rights, and someone has messed up; this is the truth. I don't care, and I'm fighting for the future of my children here. No one will tell me otherwise. As long as I see my money in my account, that's all."
