Popular hip-hop producer and broadcaster DJ Speedsta has become the butt of social media jokes after vowing to become a gatekeeper.

DJ Speedsta usually tops social media trending charts for his jibes at the skills of Amapiano DJs. This time, the radio presenter who once worked at Metro FM became the target of social media ridicule after declaring that he would be gatekeeping the industry, an allegation previously levelled against a fellow DJ.

Taking to his X account on Friday, 22 August 2025, the producer born Lesego Nkaiseng, suggested that he would not open doors for up-and-coming hip-hop artists out of necessity. The post was captioned:

“Personally, I’m back to gatekeeping! It’s clearly needed. From now on, it’s quality over quantity. 😊 😘”

His remarks come after a rapper trended after having an awkward moment on DJ Speedsta’s 5FM show Five Hip-Hop Nights.
