He moved to America to grow his range and has experienced many successes. While living abroad is an incredible privilege, Kani cannot get over a question that he is frequently asked.

He participated in a viral social media challenge that highlighted great confusion two days ago. The actor shared that he is often asked if he’s from Africa:

Kani went on to explain that Americans do not really know that South Africa is a country on its own, as they asked him:

“Oh, really? Which country?"

The Mzansi man explained that the interactions are mostly confusing, as people from the US insist that South Africa is a continent:

“I understand, but which country in South Africa are you from?"

No matter how many times Kani tries to explain that South Africa is a country, people in America will not buy it and continue to ask him:

“YES! BUT WHICH COUNTRY?"

Kani eventually gave up after a couple of attempts at trying to make them understand. He hilariously expressed his frustrations in the viral Instagram reel, sharing a very South African crash-out moment by mouthing a Xhosa curse word that made the people of Mzansi laugh.

@thuso.mbedu said:

“There's no getting used to it.”

@atandwakani responded:

“@thuso.mbedu, it shocks me EVERY SINGLE TIME. I start to doubt myself as well because there is no country called North, West, or East Africa, so I'm like, ‘Do they have a point here?’”

@onebadhabit_ pointed out:

“I don't blame them. You'd also ask someone, ‘Which part of South America?’”

@atandwakani replied:

“@onebadhabit_ except South America is a continent!”

@minniedlamini was amused by the mini crash out:

“The Xhosa at the end was very audible.”

@lesleyannbrandt was tired of explaining the simple things:

“The work my lungs have done in explaining the past 14 years. Breathtaking.”

@asieyt 21h explained:

“I've literally had this argument word for word to the point where she got angry and started screaming that I'm lying, there's no country called South Africa. I had to calmly explain it to her, and wisdom was chasing her, but she was fast! I ended up asking if she knew who Nelson Mandela was, and she said yes. I said Well then, I'm from the same country! She turns around, shouting, ‘Oh, that South Africa!’ I replied, ‘No, the one next to it,’ and walked off.”

@thabangmolaba_highlighted:

“Man! It's draining.”

@atandwakani asked:

“@thabangmolaba_what are we going to do?”
