Seasoned local broadcaster DJ Vumar has officially exited Gagasi FM. The radio star issued a statement thanking the station for helping him hone his skills since 2012.
Vumar Buthelezi reportedly stated that his exit is a result of a well-deserved break from broadcasting.
According to TshisaLIVE, DJ Vumar was involved in a car accident in March 2025, while he was on his way to work. The near-death experience signalled that it was time to take a break from it all.

In his lengthy and heartfelt statement, Vumar said he met a lot of wonderful people who helped shape his career.
“I had joined the station as a young man and spent my formative years here until I became an experienced broadcaster. Many people I met, colleagues and management alike, became friends and mentors. Vumar gave praise to the Durban-based station for forging a deep connection with the communities in Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Buthelezi first hosted the radio shows V Sessions and Sunday Sundowners. His career started as a dance music DJ to become a pastor, which helped him excel in his Sunday Gospel show. He then moved on to the weekday show Sunrise Sessions and the weekend show Dance Cabin. Radio stars Khulekani Mbambo and Nkulee Mbatha will be stepping in until his replacement is found.

Vuma told the publication that his move is due to the car accident. On Instagram, he hinted at witchcraft, which caused his accident.
"I put the last 3 months behind me by saying it's over. I am Alive, I am living fully for GOD and HIS Mandate. Glory to GOD. I’ve tasted what lies, hatred, and witchcraft can do; they are willing even to kill you.
"They can try to stop me all they want, but HE (Jesus Christ cannot be stopped). I don’t fear a man and his evil maste, I Fear Only GOD."
