South African television personality Rorisang Thandekiso was among the very few Mzansi celebrities who expressed heartbreak over Charlie Kirk's death.

Kirk was shot on 10 September 2025 while speaking at Utah Valley University, and his assassination was caught on video. President Donald Trump confirmed that the murder suspect had been arrested.

Rorisang joined the likes of Gareth Cliff and Euphonik, who expressed their heartbreak over the news.

The star said nobody should be murdered for holding a different opinion.

"Didn't agree with you on some issues and even your approach at times. But man, your boldness to stand for your convictions... should be studied. I'm sorry, Charlie, that you died because someone didn't like your view or opinion. No one should have to die."

Rorisang's post did not sit well with a lot of people.

Below are the opinions of social media users on Thandekiso's post:

@TomHarry1878 reacted:

"The truth with these people is that they agreed with him on more issues than they are willing to publicly admit, so they hide behind these vague statements. This man actively cheered the killing of people. Just because he proclaimed Jesus while doing that doesn't diminish it."

@Chris_Exfail said:

"The fact that people see this as an issue should tell you that the world sees a highly masculine Christian man as a threat, because strong, masculine Christian men will be effective against evil."

EFF criticises US gun culture

In a previous report from Briefly News, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has released a statement following the murder of political activist Charlie Kirk.

The Julius Malema-led party also questioned whether fans and teams would be safe when the United States hosts the FIFA World Cup.

South Africans weighed in on the EFF's statement, with some questioning whether it should focus on international affairs. “It is not lost on us that the very same man who argued that lives lost are a price worth paying for gun rights has himself become a casualty of the very system he championed,” the statement read.
