South African singer Tyla is heading home — and she's doing it in style. The Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) has confirmed that the two-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer will receive one of the South African Music Awards' highest honours at the 32nd South African Music Awards (SAMA32), scheduled for 15 August 2026 at the Sun City Superbowl.

2nd SAMAs win for Tyla

The Water hitmaker first took home the International Achievement Award at SAMA30. Now, she returns to the SAMA stage to be recognised again for the extraordinary mark she continues to leave on the global music landscape. In doing so, Tyla joins DJ and producer Black Coffee as the only artists to have received this prestigious distinction twice.

Heynes also spoke to what Tyla's story means for the wider South African creative landscape. He said she embodies the fearless ambition and creative excellence of a new generation of South African artists.

Unati Gwija shared with Briefly News that making Tyla the centre of the night's most anticipated moment makes perfect sense.

"This SAMA32 moment is particularly significant because Tyla was first recognised with the International Achievement Award at SAMA30. Her return marks a new chapter in that story and places her alongside Black Coffee as the only other artist to receive this prestigious honour twice."

SAMA32 is set to be a landmark evening for South African music — one that celebrates how far homegrown talent can travel, and what it means when that talent comes back to be celebrated where it all began.
