Heidi Giokos sent Mzansi into a frenzy on Monday, 31 August 2026, with a short but loaded post on X that all but confirmed her big career comeback. Hours after the SABC made the official announcement, the award-winning journalist simply wrote:

"See you all at 5 pm tonight on the #SABC News Channel 404" — and the internet did the rest.

Heidi Giokos lands at SABC after eNCA exit

SABC officially welcomed Giokos as the presenter of the weekend edition of its flagship programme Fullview, describing her as a seasoned journalist and broadcaster with a strong background in economic, business, and social affairs reporting. She holds a BA in Journalism as well as an Honours Degree in Communications.

Deidre Uren, Group Executive for SABC News, extended a formal welcome to Giokos as part of the announcement issued from Johannesburg. The appointment comes after Giokos was fired from eNCA, making her move to the public broadcaster one of the more talked-about media switches of the year.

South Africans were quick to rally behind Giokos in the comments, with many expressing pride in seeing her back on screens.
