South African rapper Emtee is a free man again after 16 days in prison, and his first order of business was tucking into a meal from Chicken Licken. The Roll Up hitmaker appeared before the Midrand Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, where his release was finally secured on R2,000 bail.
Emtee, whose real name is Mthembeni Ndevu, had been held for allegedly breaching a protection order that his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy, obtained against him in 2023. The order bars him from verbally abusing, harassing, or posting anything about Chinsamy on social media. The alleged violation stemmed from his contacting her via WhatsApp.
Stepping out of court, the rapper was met by his sister, close friends, longtime producer Ruff, and Lolli Native, a former signee to his record label. He was finally able to indulge in a hearty Soul Sister meal and washed it down with a Stoney Ginger Beer.
TshisaLIVE reported that Emtee embraced his ex-wife at the scene, with sources indicating she is now considering withdrawing the case against the father of her children.
