Reality TV star Mpumelelo Mseleku has opened up about his marriage to Tirelo Kale and made no secret of what comes next: he wants six more wives and at least 20 children. The ‘Izingane ZeS'thembu’ star says his polygamous journey is only getting started.
Mseleku and Tirelo formalised their union on 14 and 15 February 2026, though viewers only recently watched the lobola celebrations play out on screen. He described making things official as a deeply significant personal moment, saying it made him feel like a man.
Tirelo's family initially said no
The road to marriage was not straightforward. Sbindi had first approached Tirelo's family to ask for her hand, only to be turned away. Rather than walking away for good, he told them he would not stop pursuing the marriage. When he eventually returned to restart the process, the cattle from the earlier negotiations were left behind, and everything began again from scratch.

Because Tirelo was the first woman whose family he ever approached as part of his polygamous plans, Mseleku regards her as his first wife. He also noted that cultural procedures were particularly important to him given the public attention his family attracts, pointing out that polygamy is under constant scrutiny.
He drew a distinction between Tswana and Zulu marriage traditions, explaining that among Tswana families, lobola marks the woman as a bride and a white wedding remains optional, while Zulu customs involve additional stages even after lobola has been paid.
A seven-wife household is the goal
Sbindi grew up watching his father, well-known polygamist Musa Mseleku, build a large family that has been widely documented on television. Now Mpumelelo is following a similar path, currently raising four children. He shares two with former girlfriend Vuyokazi Nxiweni, one with Tirelo, and Amahle Biyela is the mother of his fourth child, though he has chosen to keep details about that relationship private.
His reason for wanting multiple wives was blunt: 'I love women.' He also argued that building a polygamous family requires energy, and that starting young is essential. In his view, someone who waits too long could find themselves trying to raise several children and manage multiple marriages at a stage in life when they simply do not have the stamina for it.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, he spoke warmly about Tirelo's loyalty, recalling a period when he faced serious financial difficulties. During that time, she stayed by his side rather than walking away, something he credits as a major foundation of their relationship. For Mseleku, a partnership built on support through hard times carries real weight alongside romantic feeling. With Tirelo now his wife, Mseleku says the next chapter involves finding six more.
