MacG kicked off the 21 September 2026 episode of Podcast and Chill with a sombre and apologetic tone, publicly taking responsibility for jokes made during a previous episode that referenced the murder of a woman identified as Elizabeth ‘Tsontso’ Moselakgomo.
Speaking alongside his co-host Sol Phenduka, MacG, who previously stayed silent amid backlash, described the episode as "one of the hardest shows to do," and acknowledged that as broadcasters, they should have exercised better judgement.
"On behalf of the network, myself, we want to profusely apologise for the comments we made on the previous episode," he said, adding, "I'm not trying to make an excuse for what we did."
MacG extends condolences to Elizabeth's family
The podcaster revealed that he had been listening to Elizabeth's daughter deliver a eulogy at the funeral on the morning of the episode, and said the experience deeply affected him as a father.

"It just breaks my heart because, as a father of a girl child, you don't want to raise your kid in a country where women can't jog," he said.
Sol Phenduka went on to reflect on the broader dangers women face daily in South Africa, from being harassed at taxi ranks to becoming victims of gender-based violence. He stressed that even before Elizabeth's murder, her going missing should not have been treated as a source of humour.
"Even just a woman going missing, nine out of ten times in South Africa, there's foul play. There's a man involved," he said.
He also acknowledged a frustrating reality about their platform: episodes where they speak out against femicide rarely trend, while missteps attract massive attention. Rather than use that observation to deflect, MacG checked himself mid-thought.
"We shouldn't make this moment about 'oh, we do great things as well,' because that would also seem like we're backtracking on our accountability," he said.
