Grief and controversy collided on the 28 September 2026 episode of Podcast and Chill with MacG, when the sister of late runner Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo joined the show over the phone to address hosts Macgyver Mukwevho and Sol Phenduka about remarks that cut deep.

The sister recounted how a clip from the podcast's 14 September episode had made its rounds on social media, showing both Mukwevho and Phenduka making light of Elizabeth's disappearance. At the time, Moselakgomo had been missing since 9 September, when she left her Rhodesfield, Kempton Park home for a routine jog and never returned. Mukwevho reportedly suggested she could have "kept on running," while Phenduka followed up with a quip about her racing number, drawing laughter in the studio. The viral photo that was circulating as part of the missing person alert was actually taken at a marathon, which is why she was wearing a number bib.

"She's not even here to speak for herself or even say what happened to her or how it happened to her," the sister said during the call.

She described watching the clip and being struck by how everyone laughed, stating that it was deeply insensitive regardless of whether she was related to the victim. She also pointed out that Elizabeth was not an isolated case, but the fourth victim found in the Ekurhuleni-Tembisa area, with around 10 victims discovered to date and at least 11 missing women reported in the same region.

What made the call particularly raw was the timing. The sister confirmed that the family had buried Elizabeth just the previous weekend, and that many relatives found out about her death through news reports before the family could even communicate it among themselves.

Mukwevho and Phenduka had issued a public apology on 21 September 2026, acknowledging they should have exercised better judgment. Elizabeth was discovered on 12 September and officially identified by her family two days later, on 14 September.

Mzansi reacts to the emotional call

The phone call, shared on X by @RealSihleIV, sparked a wide range of responses online.

@proudlysata said:

"You can tell she never watched the actual show. She just reacted to clips. Then she confidently claimed Podcast and Chill had lost Coca-Cola as a sponsor. 😭 Completely ignorant and uninformed. And somehow, a week after her sister's death, she's in the club partying as if nothing happened."

"It's very amazing that she and others are calling out the podcaster for their stupid jokes on an issue about which they were uninformed. But still make an uninformed claim that they lost the Coca-Cola sponsorship, which most of us know nothing like that existed."

@HeatherPie54811 said:

"Her murder still hurts me to this day. I don't know her, but not a day doesn't go past without thinking about her. REST IN ETERNAL PEACE ELIZABETH 💔"
