A maskandi festival in KwaZulu-Natal took an unexpected turn when Snqamu Sodidla, whose real name is Nkululeko Mathenjwa, appeared to drop what looked like a gun on stage. The incident at the Isibaya Ingoma Festival on Saturday, 26 September 2026, was caught on camera and quickly made its way online, where it caused a stir among his fans.
The 40-year-old Halala hitmaker from Hluhluwe was performing at the Emkhandlweni Sports Field in Empangeni when an object slipped from his bag during his set. He nudged it aside with his foot and carried on performing, seemingly unbothered in the moment. However, the footage told a different story once it circulated on social media.
What Snqamu said about the incident
Forced to respond publicly, Snqamu told fans the object was a toy gun that had fallen out accidentally. His manager, Dr 3 Seconds, backed up that account and shed more light on why the singer felt the need to carry such an item in the first place.
