Nearly a year after the music mogul was sentenced to 50 months in prison for prostitution-related offences, NBC News has obtained covert footage showing Combs allegedly living a life of luxury inside [Fort Dix federal prison](https://www.bop.gov/locations/institutions/dix/) in southern New Jersey — and Mzansi is shook.
Diddy's luxurious life inside prison
The NBC News exclusive, aired on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, features blurred, smartphone-style footage reportedly captured inside the facility, as well as accounts from four men who spent time with Combs and were granted anonymity to speak freely. According to these sources, Combs has been paying fellow inmates thousands of dollars a month to perform chores on his behalf — tasks ranging from making his bed and cleaning his toilet to giving him massages and cooking special meals. The money reportedly flows from contacts outside the prison directly into inmates' commissary accounts.
Beyond the domestic arrangements, sources told NBC News that Combs, who previously landed in trouble behind bars, has been using contraband cell phones to scroll through Instagram, with one source pointing reporters to an account allegedly used by Combs that carries no profile picture but is followed by his publicist. He is also said to have access to a modified tablet used to watch films and television series. One source described Combs's prison experience as "a party," citing regular access to alcohol and Remeron, an antidepressant with mood-boosting effects.

What the Bureau of Prisons and Combs's team said
The Bureau of Prisons confirmed to NBC News that inmates are not permitted to possess cell phones, and noted that the agency does not comment on individual incarcerated persons. However, it acknowledged that "contraband, particularly cell phones, narcotics and weapons, remains a constant challenge." A cell phone found in a prisoner's possession constitutes a standalone criminal offence that can carry up to a year's additional sentence.
A spokesperson for Combs pushed back, stating that the media is "characterising ordinary prison life as news."
It remains unclear whether the footage will affect Combs's release date, which the Bureau of Prisons has already moved up from February 2028 to January 2028.

The exposé comes days after Briefly News reported that attorneys representing Sean 'Diddy' Combs in a civil lawsuit filed a request to withdraw from the case.
