"If these streets could talk," she wrote, evoking the legendary Joburg nightlife scene she once threw herself into without hesitation. For many UJ students at the time, Melville was the go-to neighbourhood, and Thando was no exception. The Fatal Seduction actress recalled strolling freely between popular venues, attending live shows, and soaking up comedy performances with her crew.

"Days where you could walk from Transkei, Catz Pajamas, and Poppys… no problem, where we would watch live music and comedy with absolute joy and endearment," she wrote.

Alongside her studies, Thando was involved in theatre productions at UJ and worked at the campus community radio station, UJFM, giving her early roots in the entertainment world she now dominates.

Thunda.com and Facebook colour blocking

One of the more charming details she shared was the role that Thunda.com played in the social lives of young partygoers in the 2000s. The South African nightlife photography website would send photographers to clubs, festivals, and student events to snap pictures of revellers, and getting captured on it was a badge of honour.

"We would spend very little money (not that we had it) trying to impress absolutely nobody, and wait to see if we would be captured on thunder.com. We would upload these on Facebook and ensure we were perfectly colour blocking," she wrote, with the kind of self-aware humour that made the post an instant hit.

Thando was also relieved to find that Melville had held onto its character, noting that the suburb still carries the spirit she fell in love with all those years ago. She accompanied the post with photos of herself standing beside the well-known "I love Melville" sign on the suburb's streets.

She signed off her heartfelt message with the words: "Protect South Africa."
