South African internationally acclaimed actress Thuso Mbedu is climbing up that Hollywood ladder quite well, as she recently shared some exciting news on social media with her fans and supporters about her new project, making it on TV.

On Sunday, 7 September 2025, the star who recently celebrated her 34th birthday in style announced on her social media page that the new crime drama series, Task, in which she stars, has finally made its debut on Showmax.

The series premiered on Showmax on Monday, 8 September 2025, and Mbedu decided to share some pictures of the scenes that viewers will get to see on her Instagram page. She also posted a trailer video of Task.

Just as many South Africans are excited about watching our very own star's new show, Showmax's PR manager, Kevin Kriedemann, shared with Briefly News journalist Mbali Tebele what viewers can expect from the new crime drama series that'll premiere on Monday, 8 September 2025.

"Mbedu stars Aleah, a member of a task force working to bring an end to a series of violent robberies. Mark Ruffalo, a four-time Oscar nominee, plays the FBI agent leading the Task Force. The impressive cast includes Emmy-nominated Tom Pelphrey, BAFTA-nominated Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Alison Oliver, and Fabien Frankel."

In more entertainment news, Briefly News reported that South African actor Thabang Molaba can officially call himself a Hollywood star after revealing scenes of his role in the upcoming movie Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.

Molaba got local fans excited by sharing the movie’s trailer and behind-the-scenes pictures after he landed the role. In his Instagram post, the former Blood and Water actor shared an image of himself fighting with Franco, who has starred in major movies such as 21 Jump Street and Neighbours.
