A 50-year-old Lithuanian man residing in Spain found himself in handcuffs after attempting to pull off his signature move - faking a heart attack to skip out on a restaurant bill.
Man attempts to leave restaurant
Spanish authorities apprehended the serial offender in Alicante last month, marking his 20th such incident within a year.
The man's daring escapades ended at El Buen Corner, where he enjoyed two whiskeys and seafood paella, accumulating a bill of €34.85 (R700).

The restaurant manager, Moisés Doménech, revealed that the man's routine was exposed when a vigilant staff member noticed his attempt to leave without settling the tab.
Insider reported that when confronted, the man spun a familiar tale, claiming he needed to retrieve cash from his hotel room. However, the restaurant staff, wise to his antics, refused to let him slip away.
Police recognise man
In a last-ditch effort, the dine-and-dasher dramatically collapsed, pretending to suffer a heart attack.
Undeterred, the restaurant staff promptly called the police. Alicante National Police officers, well-acquainted with the man's antics, recognised him instantly.
The repeat offender was taken into custody despite his attempts to avoid providing an address. The police spokesperson confirmed the man's extensive record of arrests, stating,
"He was arrested multiple times in the city of Alicante. The modus operandi was the same."
Man sent to prison
The case has now been handed over to local judicial authorities. Details about the man's fate remain unclear.
The police spokesperson mentioned that he had been sent to prison, but specifics about his sentence's duration or current status are unavailable.
Spanish EFE news agency, citing an officer involved in four previous arrests, disclosed the man had a penchant for ordering extravagant items like lobster, entrecote and premium whiskey.
Astonishingly, the officer noted that the repeat offender greeted law enforcement officers with a smile, seemingly indifferent to spending a night or two behind bars.
