She took to her social media account under the handle @thandomakhubu, where she explained in a video shared on 17 June 2025 on TikTok that her last grocery haul was done in February, and it lasted all the way until June.

This time around, @thandomakhubu said she was shopping not only for herself but also for her mother.

“This time, our previous groceries pushed us to four months. Our previous bulk buy was in February; it’s June now, and it’s time for a restock,” she captioned the clip.

Filming her shopping trip at Makro, she showcased her trolley filled with essentials. Items included trays of eggs, a variety of cereals, toiletries, and other household staples. Taking to her comments, she revealed that in February she spent R4.5, and this time around she spent R6.1.

Viewers could see just how much she stocked up to ensure the purchases would last several months.

The post has since gone viral, sparking discussions among South Africans about budgeting, bulk buying, and how to make groceries stretch in tough economic times.
