A snippet of a Cape Flats woman's video showed that she got emotional after discovering the results of her ancestral DNA. However, the social media account that posted the old clip assumed that the woman had tears after finding out that she didn't have a large percentage of the Khoisan community in her blood.

On 9 June, 2025, the TikTok account @blacklivesmatter1769 posted a one-minute clip of a nearly seven-minute YouTube video Lesley-Ann Kleinhans (née Solomons), who identifies as a Cape Coloured woman, posted on her channel, LA Makeup Artistry, on 9 August, 2020.

  • South Eastern Asia: 12.83%
  • Southern Africa - Bantu-speaking: 12.83%

After noting that her European and Asian ancestry make up roughly 50% of all the findings, Lesley-Ann told the online community:

"I can't believe that the rest of the 50% are scattered over Africa."

The original video Lesley-Ann posted showed that she did not claim that she was strictly Khoisan, but rather shared the areas of the world from where her ancestors came.

What @blacklivesmatter1769 failed to show was that Lesley-Ann was in amazement immediately after the clip ended and recommended people also take a look at their ancestral history.

@userkingship informed the public:

"Those are tears of joy."

@user3068275558546 shared in the comment section:

"As A Coloured South African, I would love to do these DNA tests. We lost so much of our history because of slavery and apartheid that we, as Coloureds, don't know a lot about who we are and where our ancestors come from. This would be so cool to do."

@nola6973 added under the post:

"Every Coloured who claims Khoi ancestry should take this test. It's not so simple with us."

@elkurdennis8 said to people online:

"One person's result doesn't determine all. Remember, we are mixed race. I don't even know whether I'm Khoisan. I need to have my DNA test done! Maybe I'm Zulu."
