In the video, the learners in matching brown blazers, white shorts and ties danced energetically against a brick wall before moving into a corridor. The pair keep in sync throughout the Magumba style choreography, extending their arms forward and hitting every beat with ease. The clip, shared by TikTok user @amapiano_5, has since charmed viewers across the app.
Although the dance moves impressed viewers, it was the friendship between the boys and the playful contrast in their shoe sizes that really got South Africans talking.
School pride and youth culture in one clip
The video opens with the boys facing the camera and performing in front of the brick wall, holding straight faces even as their bodies move with precision. They extend their arms forward, switch up their footwork and maintain a tight rhythm as the music plays.
As they move into a corridor, they keep the same confident energy, gliding across the floor and matching each other’s steps. Their black school shoes quickly stand out, adding a layer of comedy as they balance sharp footwork with footwear that viewers later joked were “giant” or “needed their own passports”.
Despite the jokes and laughter in the comments, there is a clear sense of pride in how they present themselves. The boys move with the relaxed confidence of people who know the routine well and enjoy performing together.
For many viewers, the brief moment brought together several things South Africans love to see: amapiano‑inspired moves, schoolkids having fun and a sense of togetherness that cuts across race and background.
