Why grandparents love grandkids differently

According to experts at EveryMum, grandparents often appear to love their grandchildren more intensely than their children, but it's a different type of love. Research shows that grandmothers' brains react more emotionally when seeing their grandchildren compared to their adult children.

Scientists found that grandmothers are geared toward feeling what their grandchildren are feeling when they interact with them, explained James Rilling, a professor who conducted brain scans on 50 grandmothers. The study revealed that when grandmothers look at their grandchildren, areas of the brain linked to emotional empathy light up more than when viewing their adult children.
