A young woman stepped out into the hall area where her family members were waiting to see her matric ball dress on 13 November 2025. Everyone shouted out when they saw her wearing a stunning blue dress. @ruthgraaf16 shared a video with the caption:
"My niece Kiara with her matric ball. Proud Aunty Ruthy❤️🥰" The clip went viral on TikTok, getting over 30,000 views and hundreds of comments.
The video showed Kiara wearing a stunning blue dress with a bottom that flared out. She stood and took pictures for a little while, and then moved her hand to the side of her hip where she tried to unbuckle something. She had a little bit of difficulty because of the strength of the Velcro holding the bottom part of the dress, which was like a skirt that flared out and originally looked like one piece.
She pulled out the velcro holding the ends together and pulled the skirt piece away, handing it off to someone on the side. The family members cheered even more as the dress changed entirely. It went from having a sequined top with a wide cleavage area and beautiful blue designs on the top with a plain blue bottom, to having beautiful stitching and sequins right up to the bottom of her hips.

There was a train at the back of the dress. The shape of the bottom changed as well. The dress was more tight-fitting around her hips, and then it flared out a little from her knees to the bottom of her legs, giving it an almost mermaid-like style. It was later revealed that the dress was designed by a Cape Town local.

Why 2-in-1 dresses are trending
According to fashion experts at Fashion Fix Online, wearing a two-in-one dress is always a great option for celebrities. The reason these dresses are so popular is really about versatility. Women like having choices. They want to switch up their style without buying new outfits all the time. With a two-in-one dress, you can turn it inside out, and it suddenly looks completely different.
It also saves a lot of time. If you are running late and do not know what to wear, you can rely on this one dress in your wardrobe. If you are travelling and do not have much luggage space, it is even better. You can wear the same dress two days in a row and no one will notice. These dresses also work well for events, giving you more than one look for different moments, just like the matriculant shown in TikTok user @ruthgraaf16's video.
