KWAZULU-NATAL - Duduzane Zuma delivered a pointed address at the BizNews Conference, making a bold case for why South Africans owe his father, former president Jacob Zuma, a debt of gratitude.
Speaking from the podium at the invitation-only business conference, the uMkhonto weSizwe Party’s Deputy President told delegates that his father had been instrumental in preventing large-scale unrest in the country, both before and after 1994.
Duduzane defends Zuma's legacy
While describing his father as an interesting character, who he said has been hounded for a very long time, Duduzane also explained why South Africans needed to be grateful for the former president.

“We should thank our lucky stars for that gentleman for one reason and one reason only. He's held back a lot of revolt in this country, pre-94, post-94, but especially where we find ourselves now,” he said.
He added that a lot of people looked up to his father for leadership, and for guidance as an elderly statesman and as an elder in the community. Duduzane acknowledged that Jacob Zuma remains a polarising figure but stopped short of defending or criticising the political and legal battles his father has faced over the years.
He said that his father has held people back and told them that they will get through this.
“He's spoken to them through it, he's guided them through it, and he's here to do it once again, and we should hope he'll be here for a much longer time,” Duduzane said.
Duduzane slammed for showing support to Julius Malema
Briefly News also highlighted facts about Duduzane's controversial support for Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) President Julius Malema.
He extended support as Malema was facing legal challenges following a conviction for firing a gun at a rally.
