KWAZULU-NATAL — Halalisani Ndlovu, recently named as ActionSA's mayoral candidate for KwaDukuza, has resigned from the party and crossed the floor to the Democratic Alliance ahead of the 4 November 2026 local government elections.

The move was announced on 27 August 2026 by DA National Campaign Manager Ashor Sarupen, adding fresh momentum to the DA's push to consolidate opposition support in KwaZulu-Natal ahead of the municipal polls.

Ndlovu explained that pressing ahead with a separate mayoral bid risked fragmenting the opposition vote, ultimately handing an advantage to the ruling African National Congress or enabling post-election coalitions with the Economic Freedom Fighters and uMkhonto weSizwe Party. Rather than contest the mayoral race himself, he will now throw his support behind DA mayoral candidate Privi Makhan.
