5 Killed in Horrific Limpopo Accident After Vehicle Loses Control

SEKHUKHUNE, LIMPOPO — Members of the same family were killed in a horrific accident in the Sekhukhune district in Limpopo on 16 November 2025.

According to Jacarandfa FM, a double-cab bakkie was travelling on the D4170 on the Mopets Bridge in the Fetakgomo Tubatse Municipality. Eight people were traveling in the car when it veered off and plunged down an embankment. Six people died. Two people were rushed to the nearest hospital.

In the same area, two learners were killed and three were injured two days prior when a grade 12 learner drove his parents' car on his way to school. It is not clear how the accident took place. The injured were rushed to the hospital.

Limppo government responds

The province's MEC of Transport and Community Safety, Violet Mathye, said that the accident was a major accident. She conveyed her condolences to the families. She said that the Department will continue to increase its efforts to reduce road fatalities by deploying more traffic officers.
