GAUTENG - Private investigator Mike Bolhuis has shared new details about the kidnapping and rescue of Johannesburg lawyer Alex Soleil van Heerden, who was found safe just hours after being abducted outside her Northcliff apartment.
The 26-year-old attorney was allegedly kidnapped at around 6:57 pm on Wednesday, 5 August, after arriving at her apartment complex in an Uber from a restaurant in Rosebank.
According to Bolhuis of Specialised Security Services (SSS), Van Heerden was forced into a white Renault hatchback by multiple suspects. The incident was captured on video, which quickly circulated online and sparked widespread concern.
Private investigator shares update on rescue
Speaking to TimesLive about the case, Bolhuis said Van Heerden is unharmed and restng after her terrifying ordeal. He furher said the quick actions of Van Heerden's Uber driver played a crucial role in her recovery. The driver immediately alerted police after witnessing the alleged abduction, leading to a rapid response from authorities and private security teams.

Bolhuis said information about the kidnapping spread quickly through social media platforms, community groups and security networks, helping investigators trace the suspects.
He confirmed that Van Heerden was located in Vosloorus at approximately 10:30 pm on the same night. She was found safe and the vehicle allegedly used in the kidnapping was recovered.
Bolhuis also revealed that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident.
"The response demonstrated the importance of rapid reporting, information sharing and cooperation between law enforcement, specialist investigators and the public," he said.
Family relieved after rescue
The private investigator said the case highlighted how important the first few hours are in kidnapping investigations.
Van Heerden's husband, Rashaad Ismail, reportedly contacted Bolhuis after her recovery to express his gratitude and relief following the traumatic ordeal.
While the attorney has been reunited with her loved ones, investigations into the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping are continuing.
Bolhuis appealed to anyone with information that could assist investigators to come forward as authorities work to determine exactly what happened and whether additional suspects may have been involved.

In related news,an eight-year-old boy from Nyanga spent 48 hours was locked inside a school classroom after going missing on a Friday afternoon. He was found alive on Sunday at Hleliisa Primary School in Cape Town, bringing a frantic two-day search to a relieved close. The search began after the boy's foster parent reported him missing to Nyanga police when he failed to return home from school. SAPS and the Hope Missing Persons Unit immediately began searching, with investigators and volunteers walking the streets and following up on possible sightings throughout Friday night and into Sunday morning
Missing teen's vehicle recovered
Briefly News also reported that police traced the vehicle believed to have been central to 17-year-old Sarah Rose Starrett's disappearance, with the search now extending beyond Western Cape into KwaZulu-Natal. Sarah was last seen in Blanco, George, on 19 July after a scheduled visit with her biological mother. She failed to return to her foster home, where she had lived for the past five years, by the agreed 16:00 deadline. Police have since confirmed she was not abducted from the foster home. Sarah went missing in the same month as a 22 year-old woman who was last seen in KwaZulu-Natal.
