Reiger Park Shooting: Hawks Arrest Fourth Suspect in Deadly Case

GAUTENG — A fourth man has been arrested in connection with the Reiger Park shooting that killed two women and two police constables in August, following an intelligence-driven operation carried out on Friday, 4 September 2026.
The 26-year-old suspect was taken into custody by the Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation team based in Germiston, operating alongside the Gauteng Tactical Response Team and the Gauteng Provincial Anti-Gang Unit. Hawks national spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale confirmed the arrest, stating the suspect was taken in for allegedly being in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
Fourth suspect linked to August killings
When apprehended, the suspect was allegedly found with a revolver, ammunition and two cellphones. Preliminary investigations have since linked him to the deaths of Roleen Lessing, Jayden Margerman, and police Constables Thapelo Tlomatsana, 29, and Sphiwe Sibeko, 28, all of whom were shot and killed in Reiger Park on 7 August 2026.

According to police, Tlomatsana and Sibeko were conducting crime-prevention patrols when they responded to nearby gunfire and were allegedly ambushed.
"The investigation is continuing, and the possibility of additional charges cannot be ruled out," Mogale said.
The newly arrested suspect is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, 8 September, where he will join three previously arrested men: Reagan Cheslin Collis, 23, Jamal Meyer, 24, and Elvino Levert Crafford, 27, who are already before the court for bail proceedings.

Families call for justice
Collis faces four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, as well as charges relating to alleged possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. Meyer and Crafford face the same charges under the doctrine of common purpose, with the State alleging all three participated in the crimes.
As the investigation progresses, families connected to the victims have continued to call for accountability. Margerman's family has urged the court to weigh the case carefully, expressing concern that releasing the accused could expose the community to further danger.
Debbie Boards, speaking on behalf of affected families and residents, gave voice to the community's frustration.
"We are really tired as a community, as families; we are really, really tired of this," she said.
The Hawks have indicated that further charges remain possible as evidence-gathering continues.
Reiger Park accused makes threat towards the community
Previously, Briefly News reported that an investigating officer in the Reiger Park quadruple killing has told the Boksburg Magistrates' Court that Reagan Cheslin Collis, the first accused, allegedly warned residents that the area "would burn" if anything happened to him. The officer was citing the statement as evidence of Collis' influence within the community. The claim was contained in an affidavit presented during the formal bail applications of Collis, 23, Jamal Meyer, 24, and Elvino Levert Crafford, 27. Collis, represented by attorney Samkele Kuzani, denied making the alleged warning.
