How Teffo ended up behind bars

Teffo was struck off the roll of advocates in September 2022 after multiple complaints of professional misconduct, dishonesty, and malpractice were upheld against him. Despite the removal, he repeatedly attempted to appear in high-profile cases, including the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial. Judges consistently barred him from addressing the court without formal proof of readmission.

His persistence eventually led the Legal Practice Council (LPC) to obtain a warrant for his arrest on contempt of court charges. On 15 September, officers arrested him at the LPC offices after he arrived to apply for a letter of good standing. He has been in detention at Kgosi Mampuru prison ever since.

Various social media users pointed out that the video was from Teffo's previous incarceration therefore the authenticity of the video has not been verified by Briefly News.
