SOUTH AFRICA - Anti-illegal immigration activist Ngizwe Mchunu used the Ekurhuleni killings to take aim at Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema on 16 September 2026. Journalist Sihle Mavuso shared footage of Mchunu on Twitter/X, where the former radio broadcaster blamed Malema for creating conditions that allowed undocumented foreign nationals to remain in South Africa.

In the video, Mchunu sent his condolences to those affected by the killings before turning his attention to Malema. He accused the EFF leader of giving undocumented foreign nationals a sense of entitlement to remain in the country, which he suggested had direct consequences.

"This is why I told you you are no longer welcome in KZN, it is because of your misdeeds," Mchunu said in the clip.

Mchunu and Malema's long-running feud

The two men share a contentious history. Malema previously opened a case against Mchunu at the High Court, obtaining an order that barred him from making defamatory comments about the EFF leader. That legal action followed Mchunu's accusation that Malema had been "bought by Nigerian criminals," a claim that triggered the court proceedings.

Despite the court order, Mchunu's latest video appeared to revive the personal attack, using the tragedy as a launching pad to revisit his grievances.
