Actress Gaisang Noge has stepped out of her usual lane to speak on something close to her heart - the future of South Africa. In a video posted to her Instagram page on 9 October 2026, the star made an impassioned plea for her followers to register their votes ahead of the upcoming elections.

The former The Wife star admitted she rarely weighs in on political matters, but said the state of the country left her feeling she had no choice but to speak up. Delivering her message in a serious, urgent tone, she ran through some of the most pressing issues facing ordinary South Africans.

"Every day there's something in our country. We have the issue of gender-based violence, a high crime rate, we have the issues of unemployment. We need an adjustment or a change of governance," she said, ending the video with a deep sigh.

Noge’s call comes at a crucial moment for South Africa, arriving just weeks ahead of the 4 November local government elections. With political tension high and millions of voters growing increasingly disillusioned over service delivery and economic stagnation, public figures like Noge are stepping up to mobilise young voters before they head to the polls.

Gaisang Noge's call to action

Noge, who is the daughter of former Selimathunzi presenter Dosto Noge, was careful not to align herself with any particular political party. Instead, she urged South Africans to do their research and make thoughtful, informed choices at the ballot box.

"Let's take the time to read the different party manifestos, understand what each party is proposing, and make informed decisions about the future we want for ourselves and our country. Your vote matters. Let's use it wisely," she wrote in the caption accompanying the video.

The actress acknowledged that many people are carrying the weight of economic hardship and daily struggles, but pushed back against any sense of hopelessness.

"So much has happened in this year alone, and I know many of us are feeling the pinch of the economy and the weight of the challenges we face every day. But I choose to believe that our votes can make a difference," Noge said.

Her message was one of resilience, reminding her followers not to give up on the democratic process even when the challenges feel overwhelming.
