GAUTENG — Socialite and businessman Thami Ndlala was arrested outside Randburg Magistrate's Court on Monday, 12 October 2026, on charges of intimidation and extortion linked to a dispute with model Blue Mbombo.

According to the Mail & Guardian, SAPS officers moved in just outside Court 20 of the Randburg Magistrates Court. Ndlala attempted to flee but was apprehended and placed into a police vehicle.

Ndlala claimed the charges were dropped

The criminal charges stem from allegations by Mbombo that Ndlala threatened, harassed, and intimidated her. Ndlala denied these allegations and, just last week, stated on social media that the charges had been dropped. His arrest on Monday directly contradicted that claim.

Chris Molefi, the lawyer representing the parties in the matter, confirmed he had not received instructions to speak to the media.

"Our only option is to wait for an official public statement before we can proceed," Molefi said.

How did South Africans react?

The arrest drew swift reaction on social media, with many users caught off guard by the development.

Mbombo ordered to remove harassment posts

Briefly News reported that the Gauteng High Court ordered Mbombo to take down social media posts accusing Ndlala of harassment.

Mbombo had claimed that Ndlala, husband of Lerato Kganyago, subjected her to death threats and hired people to intimidate her.

The businessman has denied the allegations and is reportedly suing Mbombo for defamation of character.
