The 27-year-old reportedly fell out of favour with former TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic, who is now in charge of CR Belouizdad.

The former Cape Town City forward was not registered for the 2025-26 campaign, which instigated his decision to leave the Algerian side.

The South African international returns to the PSL after one year in North Africa, bringing with him valuable international experience and proven local pedigree.

Motaung Jr comments on Mayo's move to Kaizer Chiefs

Motaung Jr outlined the key role Mayo is expected to play for Kaizer Chiefs this season. The Bafana Bafana forward scored six goals and provided one assist in 41 appearances across all competitions for Belouizdad.

He is expected to do more with Amakhosi this season, and he also joins the long list of father and son to have played for the Soweto giants.

“Bringing Khanyisa to Naturena has been a long-standing goal for us, even before his stint in Algeria,” said Kaizer Motaung Jr, after the Soweto giants officially unveiled the striker on this weekend.
"He’s a proven performer in the domestic league, and we’re confident he’ll bring real quality to the team, both in our local campaign and on the continental stage. He now joins an elite group of players who’ve honoured their family legacy by walking a similar path. We’re thrilled to have him on board and extend our best wishes as he begins this new journey.”
